I have a question and it is a simple one but I feel I am missing something!

In the event of a medication error, what steps must be taken?

I have said:
- assess and observe patient
- provide first aid if necessary
- notify RN
- notify pharmacy
- prime the incident

I have this feeling I am missing some steps, does this sound right?

What do you mean by 'prime' the incident?

A Prime is an incident form, usually on the computer I think.

Yes that's right. It is an incident form used when a patients safety has been compromised, which is used by Qld Health in the hospital system.
