Hi guys!

I'm so excited to have found this forum. I am currently one year in to my Diploma of Nursing (part time, so have 18months to go!!).

I currently live in Victoria, but I am married to a soldier, and we are due to move to the NT 6months after I complete my course. It is unknown yet whether we will be in metro or rural NT.

I have heard that there are not all that many study options for EN's to further their education in the NT, and also, that the more qualifications you have the more chance you have of being employed.

I was considering doing some short courses in the 6 months before we move away, as they are much more accessable here - things like a mother and baby certficate, diabetic care etc.

I know some would not be available to me if I am not currently employed in the relevant settings. But I just dont see how I can go and get a job knowing in good faith I would only be staying there 4/5/6months at the most.

Has anyone done extra study immediatly after finishing their diploma? Did you find it helpful, or did you feel 'out of your depth' without expereince in the field?

Do you think I would go to our new home and have potential employers asking why I have all these certificates but no work experience?

Truth be told, I am a bit scared about doing my qualifications in one state and having to apply for jobs in another!

Thanks for taking the time to read !

There are study options for you in NT. Charles Darwin Uni offers bachelor of nursing and bachelor of midwifery externally and on campus if that is what you are looking for?
