So I am comming up for my 2nd Anatomy and Physiology test, I have to learn 4 subjects before 8th Feb and am worrying myself sick over it, I am getting so stressed and anxious over it and am wondering is it really worth all of this. There is so much to know in the 4 subject that no matter how much i read it I just can't retain it, anyone else ever felt like this? Getting a bit depressed over it to be honest

What stuff do u need to learn, how well did u do in your first one? just learn one of the 4 things each weeks and u will be fine just try to cram study learn something over time and u will get the hang of it plus u get another chance to do it if u fail anyway :)

Got 75 in the last one, this time its skeletal, muscular, nervous, endocrine. I have not done any school type stuff for 30 years, is studying just reading it over and over, I just cant seem to get it seems so much to learn, I know I have a second chance but I consider failure to not be an option, perhaps I need to change that, too much pressure on myself maybe thats stopping me from learning, dont know

Hey Johnw, you can do it, I know it can be stressful but maybe this might help. Trying to study and remember things in pieces can be difficult. What I try to do and even now in practice is to link everything together. Everything is related and by understanding this relationship, its easier to memorize information. I know its a pretty lame idea but I thought I shared it nonetheless.

All the best and GO John!

john, i did the EEN course in 2010, and i was exactly like you- i put so much pressure on myself that around exam time i felt like i couldve had a nervous breakdown!! i was sooooo scared of failing that i was making myself crazy! im also mature age, so i think you feel the pressure even more.

and basically yep, studying can be just reading stuff over and over again. i would also write out my own study notes with the main points i thought were most important to know (hopefully your teachers have given you a heads up on that bcos its IMPOSSIBLE to learn everything!)

i would also find clear pictures or diagrams of body systems that i had to know and laminate them and stick them behind toilet doors, on the kitchen cupboards.. basically anywhere i might spend more than a minute standing/sitting : ) so that i could read things intermittently even when i wasnt actually studying. it also became a game when other people were around bcos they would see all the stuff i had around and would quizz me.

alot of A&P really is rote learning- purely memorizing things. and if you make sure you really understand something and can picture it in your mind, then it makes the memorizing a whole lot easier. i also used utube alot for A&P, if you find theres something you cant quite get your head around, then look it up on you tube, theres loads of great animations (try and go for ones that are from medical or academic sources).

good luck
