Hi,

I'm going to have Vetassess test on this month, and i got my candidate kit.

Just wondering, in Literacy exams How many questions do i answer in writing section?

Because in preparation booklet it said i have to do three questions.

Are they all essay? or just comprehension questions?

I am really worrying about this exam. It is killing me:(

please help me!

Hi lovemay,

I completed my Vetassess test in january this year, started the diploma in February and love it :)

There is no need to be scared of the test it just basic knowledge learnt at school.

For literacy and numeracy section there is 40 Questions in each with 15 minutes to complete each section. I completed them all, don't worry if you don't most people don't finish all of it, you only need half to pass. For the writing skills it 30 minutes for 3 question and from what I remember one was a letter to the editor and two creative writing pieces.

Don't stress over it I did and I was fine, thinking I had not been in school for 10years. I bought the practice test to see we're I needed imporving and that helped once I got I realised I can to it.

You will be fine. Any other questions just ask :) happy to answer.

Hi Danni30

I wrote to another person re these tests on a different Nurse site.

Nursing generally requires basic maths skills. Addition, subtraction, multiply, divide, basic fractions/decimals and measurements for drug related maths. For some physiology and practical skills some maths. For example Temp's measured in Celsius, Blood pressure is related to what the heart and blood is doing so BP -120/80 would be a measurement of pressure.  You may have to measure a person' fluid input and output. It all comes back to the basics. Most fractions will be for a tablet or other drug 1/4 1/2 or 3/4. For example pethidine comes in a 100mg/2ml. So that is 100mg of pethidine in 2ml of solution and the doctor may order 75mg. So that would be 1.5mls.  So not having actually done the EN test (I'm an x RN) I would imagine the maths would revolve around this. You would need to be familiar with mls and litres. Micrograms, milligrams, grams and change micrograms into milligrams for example. I suggested to this other person to go get year 6-9 maths books and find questions/examples covering these sort of areas.

Don't know if this helps but I'm sure you will be fine.

Hi I'm new to the site.....I have my vetassess test next friday.  I'm brickin' it!! I've never been the best at maths.  I'm going through fractions with my husband at the moment.  I'm really worried that this maths test could mess up my whole future.

I work for scope at the moment but nursing has always been my dream.  I got knocked back from the ACN scholarship, but I thought I'm not giving up.

Are the questions really taxing??????? I'm not fussed about the literacy ones..just the maths booooo.

Cheers
