Hi,

I find it really hard to find answers when i ring tafe or where ever i ring it seems no one seems to know anything. Its kind of frustrating,

I waant to do my endorsed enrolled nurse course and i would love to do it through distant or online. SO i dont have to attend much maybe just the examinations and clinical work i can attend. Also what is the QUICKEST possible way i can get this done. Is it quicker to to enrolled nurse then do the endorsed part later? PLease some one help me i know there are ways that will suit my situation , I have 2 kids and i need to work.

Hi, I'm three weeks into my Diploma of Nursing (EEN) via distance at Gold Coast Tafe. I'm doing the course part time over a 2 year period but you can do it in 18 months. Intakes are in March and November unfortunately you have to pay but they do have vet help or payment plan. You are required to attend residential school in the Gold Coast for 2 week stints, 3 times in the 2 years. I think VIC and SA offer distance/online EEN course as well. I thought about going to TAFE in my area but they were limited to 17 places and on the basis that I'm not currently working in the field thought I would have little chance of being accepted. I have three kids and I would have had to put them into before and after school care so distance seemed the more flexible choice. Hope this helps.

Forgot to add that clinical work is based on where you live. I'm also in Sydney.

Hi btemtd

I am also doing the same course as Penelope except I am studying full-time and working full-time too =) like Penelope said you can do your vocational placements in your local area but you must attend residential school in Qld for assessments (a total of 3 times during the 18month course)....they do give you set dates so you would have plenty of time to organize accommodation etc....I'm also in Sydney

yes i have applied for the incentive payment....i spoke to medicare and they said we have to have studied for a minimum of 28 days before they can process our paperwork,...so i'm hoping for a nice surprise in my bank account in time for christmas and i will probably use the money for residential school accommodation and flights

(i used my confirmation of enrolment form as proof and medicare said they will ring the tafe if they need more details than that)

Hi fellow students! Can I ask what the incentive payment is that you are talking about for EEN's? Thanks

Hi Guys! I am looking at calling GCIT today about enrolling for March intake. So is it still possible to get the incentive payment even if you use vet fee help?? That would definitely come in handy for resi school! :)

Hey Banky, I just finished my EEN diploma and received the ACETI payment. I didn't use any VET fee help, however a friend did and she also received the payment. As long as you are employed FT, PT or casually in some sort of aged care work , you should have no problem obtaining the payment :)

Do you have to have been doing Aged Care work before you started the EEN course? I've just completed my course and work in aged care for an agency but wasn't actually working when I started the course as I had just completed my aged care course.

Cath24 did you commence your course after july 2010 and finish already? I started my course in april 2010 so I don't think I'm eligible for a payment. Was your course less than 18mths?

You can enrol at ANMFSA for their distance learning. they have 2 courses right now, the Advance Diploma of Nursing ( www.anmfsa.org.au/learning/courses/advanced-diploma-of-nursing ) and Certificate IV Frontline Management ( www.anmfsa.org.au/learning/courses/certificate-iv-frontline-management ). Hope that helps :-)

hi, I studying online EEN with GCIT. I'm nearly finished semester 2. I choose to study over the 2 years but you can complete in 18 months. I have 2 young children and one on the way and also picked up work in the aged care facility I did my 1st placement in. I know there is full time students in my course that decided to try to finish earlier and switched to part time. And vise versa if full time study is to much. I also have a lot of new nurse friends that have children, work full time and study. So you can do it if you are dedicated.Basically it comes down to what time you are willing to put into studying. Just take into consideration that there is 400 hrs of placement you have to complete that you will have to work around children and jobs. I must say ive found  it a great experience, tough at times but good.Good luck
