Hi, I've just started my nursing law class and got all my assignments. yesterday day. I've been working on the book that we have to fill out but can't find someone of the definitions and thing in the textbook/powerpoint.

Did you find all your answer in the textbook or did you have to look on line for certain thing online.

Also we go our case study one yesterday and watched the video in class, and took some notes. I'm not sure how were to suppose to write about it.

IT says 1) describe the issues of introduction (seen in this case study) relating to the use of ethical, legal and professional principles

2) describe the issues of consent (seen in this case study) relating to the use of ethical, legal and professional principles.

Do we just write an overview of what we saw on each DVD.

Sorry to ask I'm just a bit confused with it all.

Thanks not sure if our books are the same

but on page 5 it says identify three acts that have a direct impact upon nursing and page 8 identify three statutes directly related to nursing practice.

I've had a look online and in my textbook but can't seem to find any information. Would you be able to recommend any site or anywhere to find the info.

Also not sure if you had same case study 3 about the nursing home toilet death.

1) Explain if the principles of appropriate restraint including the intent and use of restraints were applied in this case study.

I'm not sure what I'm suppose to write for this questions.

I would ask my teacher but she's not very good at explain things.

As far as restrains go, person cannot be deprived of their liberty and falsely imprisoned, without consent, except in exceptional circumstances such as under the mental health act or the health act in regard to some notifiable infectious diseases (Section 36 & 37) and those who are unable to care for themselves (Section 62). A competent adult has the right to refuse treatment and this includes leaving a hospital of their own will. However if a person is deemed unfit to make that choice or is at risk of hurting themselves a restraint can be used to prevent harm from occurring to the person, other patients and or staff. This restraint may be a physical restraint an emotional restraint or a chemical restraint. There are very strict guidelines which must be followed before applications of restraint are legal.

Sadly our books aren't the same, but I have a feeling your last case study will be the same as mine - John Corbett.
