Hi there, i was offered a place at both Health Skills Aus and Careers Aus. I chose Careers Aus because it was the diploma and not cert IV like health skills was offering. The Course starts in April. So I have now been enrolled and its only now the nerves are kicking in :)I am 22 and have a 2 year old and am going to miss being home with him everyday :( but i am really excited.... so i wonder if there is there anyone who has studied/or is going to be studies with careers aus?? comments on the course they run and how you found them?? also anyone who studied full time with a toddler and how did you find the work load and manage this time around your family???

thanks, liz

HI Cruz,

well i sat the vetassess and applied with careers Aus and there was an info session and interview. Interview was simple-just asked why we wanted to be nurses and that was it really. And with the vetassess results they were saying they mostly really look at the literacy marks more than the numeracy. In terms of fees, the course is somthing like $13.5k, but if you are elegible for gov funding it will only cost $1,056. On top of that there is a $500 deposit before the start of the course, and $500 on text books and a few other essentials like a nurses fob watch, etc.. But in all the fees you are given 2 work placement tops and a stethescope. but that will really get cut down if you can apply for some of the payment schemes. (I am able to apply for parents returning to earning $1000 on course fee's, then there's centrelink study benefits ontop of whichever payment your are entitled to, etc). And the prices were pretty much the same at health skills except they didnt give you any tops or stethescopes..... and it was only a cert IV.... so yeh :) wow, that was alot of thinking :) :P
