Hi everyone, I'm new to the forum!

I have recently applied for a student parademic position but since seeing my mum go through cancer at the PA I am very interested in nursing and looking after cancer patients. Can someone help me out with what qualifications you need and what the difference between a diploma and bachelor are?

What exactly can you do with a diploma in nursing??
Thanks!!

Regards,
Mel

A diploma is an Enrolled Nurse qualification, newly upgraded from certificate level.

A degree is a Registered Nurse qualification.

To find out more check out a uni website, as each university will have different entry requirements. Also, you could try www.anmc.org.au . This is the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Council website.

If you plan to do nursing, you will have to get experience in different areas, not just oncology, so during your training you will get exposure to this. As you have probably read elsewhere, it is also advisable to do a graduate year afterwards.

Hope this helps. I imagine though that if you have the qualifications for getting into a paramedic course, then you should have no problems accessing a nursing course (the former is a degree course too?)

Best of luck...
