Hi guys i posted this question in another area but have not gotten a response so i thought i would ask outright.

I am having difficulty with the Medication Calculations to help study for the Vetassess test. I just can't get my head around it and was hoping to find out from others who have done the test, what kind of questions regarding medication do they ask? I don't want to study everything if i don't have to. I just couldn't remember it all.

So if they ask to find drip rates i would study for that etc... It's nothing to hard is it cause i just can't get my head around them.

Do they give a sample question and answer before the real question to help with the formula??

Sorry to bug but i just can't get it.

Thanks in advance. :)

Hey there,

I sat the vetassess back in april and I will be honest I can't remember all the maths questions exactly but there was definitely a question wanting you to work out the drip rate. There wasn't a sample question on the exam and I'm not sure if the formula was given or not. Basically every mark counts so I would study as much as you can manage on drug calcs just to be safe. One of the websites i used for practice was Flinders Midwifery and Nursing I think it was called and it was great.

I wish you all the best ,

Back again,

That site was www.nursing.flinders.edu.au

Click on study aids,

Click on basic drug calcs

It explains how to do all the different drug calcs in a really easy to understand way plus there is heaps of practice calculations to try.

Hi

I hope your test went well. I know you only wanted to study what was on the test, but medications is a serious thing, and as a nurse, we need to know how to do all the calculations, not just what we might be tested on. I hope you passed and are now practicing all types of calculations till you can get your head around it. Best of luck..
