Hi Everyone,
I am looking to apply and hopefully get in to the Diploma of Nursing off campus which is run through TAFE in SA. I have sat the SATAC TABS test ( which tests you on maths and english) and have been advised I scored very highly a Category 1. Does anyone know how high this is or what it means? As they don't really give you much information.
Also when starting work as a Division 2 Nurse currently what is the salary rate? I know it varies accross the states but the websites I have found I find confusing.

Thanks
Kat

Hi Katbro, I am at the Port Adelaide campus in my first semester doing the Diploma of Nursing on and off campus mode. I also got a category 1 which means you got a score of at least 75%. When we started they told us there were 75 places and 250 applicants. The off campus mode is harder to get into than the on campus mode they say you have a 1in 8 chance of getting into it.The study is a lot harder than I thaught it would be. We have our first exam on anatomy and physiology on the 14th of september i am a bit nervous about this one. They say you have two chances to pass and then you recieve a fail and have to pay to do the module again. I attend campus one night a week for 3hrs this is good it gives you a chance to make friends as you need someone to study with along the way.
My sister works as a nurse at Flinders and she told me it was about $22 an hour for nursing.
Anyhow Goodluck for next year.
Hope you get in

Hi Brooklyn you have to do 5 electives it should the same as Pt Adelaide have you not been told about electives?I am actually doing 7 I figure the more the betterbut it depends on your workload. The electives I have chosen are advance terminolgy which there was an exam for and it was quite simple,I have done the mothers and babies elective I have also done child mandated notification sexual health, this semester I have palliative care and Blood collection this work is on top of what you are required to do, that are core units and have to be done.Okay talk to you later Grace
