Hi Aaron & Everyone,

I currently work in the home assist area and need to enrol for my cert III in aged care. I have found courses such as thomson, seek, tafe etc., etc and am unsure which one to do. Are they pretty much all the same or does anyone have any advice on which course? would really appreciate any comments or opinions b4 I enrol.

many thanks,

Christine

Hi Chrstine and to everyone I did my course through Tafe and found it an excellent course. They are very helpful and you all help each other throughout the couse. You learn a great deal and for someone who came into the course in my forties they encouraged me all the way. I feel its much more professional and you are much more employable after it.

Hi everyone,
I'm new to this forum and it's such a joy to find so many like minded folks!
My question is about starting an online course in cert 3 aged care ( I already work 4 days in an unrelated field). I was told that it should be a TAFE course, not just any online course.
Is that true? I was told that it is preferable when it comes to employment opportunities. Would be grateful for any comments.Ta.

Glad to see a flicker of life on this post! I did ring a couple of nursing homes and was actually told they don't care either way. Cert III in aged care was for entry level and they wanted people who were suited for the job and were good at it.. Maybe that is standard answer to anyone who asks, I don't know.

Hi, i am currently doing my cert 3 course through success fast track. Very happy with it. It is a 5 week full time course, they find u your job placement and it is a nationally recognised course. The teachers are very experienced aged care workers so they know what they are talking about. Every thing u learn is what they teach at TAFE but it is condensed down so if you can afford it, i highly recommend it. My teachers did there cert 3 through tafe many years ago and it took 6 months, (this course wasnt avail back then) but you do learn everything required in 5 weeks and they are very helpfull. It also includes your first aid cert. If anyone tells you its to quick, dont listen to them.
