I was just wondering if you would be able to tell me what it was like? What was involved in the course? How hard was it? What were the exmas etc like? Did you do oral presentations or anything like that?

Exactly what sort of things can you do now with your endorsement?

Was it worth doing?

Did it increase your job options?

I know a little bit about it but want to hear some real life experiences. I have to think about whether I want to do it soon or go on to apply to Div 1/Midwifery so would like to get some info.

Thanks very much

Lisa

keeshy ! Go for it . I have no regret doing endorsement course. Involved was studying and learning lots eg: medications, injections, DD's. In the beinging it seemed difficult. You will get a CD-ROM Nursing Calculations disk which really great help and teaches you have to do every step by step to develop your skills. Once you learned the exmas were easy and fun. It increases your job options with doing medications and beside these days employers are looking to hire with Endorsed medications EN's. Do it you will not regret it.Best Wishes

keeshy ! also I remembered when I was doing my prac in hospital years ago there was EN from Agency called in for the AM, he was not medication endorsed and he was not allowed to do medication arounds and it was a extra load for the other staff member EEN to do medications, the EN had the extra load to do showers while the EEN was doing the medication. You will be more respected and will have alot in common with RN's. Now you may see what I mean.

Thanks for the positive input guys!

Is there mainly just assignments and exams involed through out the course.

I am nervous about the maths component cos it's really REALLY not my strong point. But I really do want to do it becuase I want to have as many qualifications as I can.

Hi Keeshy
I don't wish to put a damper on this subject, I did the course 2 years ago and while working in the public hospital system was not allowed to administer meds because there were no poilcies in place for Div 2 to give meds. I have since left Hospitals so hopefully these poilcies are changing. I still have not given meds because I am in a different position now where i dont need to. I believe Aged care is where you will use this quailifation much more .
By all means go for what ever qualifications you can get it all helps and dont be afraid of the maths if I can do it believe me anyone can.
Good luck
