Ok.. well to cut a long story short... I have an assignment for school... writing a careplan.. we have been given a scenario.. and there is one "problem" i am struggling with despite spending many hours on google :S
The resident has a history of atrial fibrillation and is at risk of heart failure and pulmonary emboli. I need to come up with atleast 7 nursing actions.. Can anybody give me any help on this???
I'm heading to the library tommorow to pick up a copy of "nurses pocket guide: diagnoses, interventions and rationales" But any help would be greatly appreciated.

well to start with they will be put onto beta-blocker which will reduce their cardiac output and blood pressure. So you need to monitior heart rate and BP. They may also be commenced on warfarin ( a blood thinner ) to help prevent a PE and CVA. also looking for any adverse affects from they medications is also something to monitor. They may need a daily ecg or even telemetry. just a few ideas for you...
