ive got a deferred spot at CDU which im trying to decide whether to take up next year. im an EEN so i'd be starting in second year.

at the start of this year i was intending to study part time this year (2011) and was going to do maybe 2 subjects and see how it went- but for personal reasons i decided i would defer my place while i still could and leave it for a year.

so im now considering whether to actually pick up the place in 2012 or just let it go completely.

when i was initially going to be studying this year, i enrolled in a couple of subject and got the ball rolling. but i actually found that i really felt kind of lost trying to figure out how it was all going to work? im a computer savvy person, i do pretty well with self directed work etc- but i found that right from the beginning it felt strange just reading lecture notes online etc and couldnt make sense of how the external system was going to work for me.

i felt like it could be really easy to get lost in all the lectures and wind up feeling like it was all a mess. i was already feeling that way within only a few weeks of the semester beginning. i dont know whether its because im a visual kind of person so although i can spend lots of time on the computer doing stuff, initially i still need the concreteness of a lecturer standing in front of me discussing things and giving instant feedback. or the other option is that bcos the start of my year was a bit of a mess, that maybe my brain just wasnt capable of seeing the online learning aspect clearly, perhaps it will be a different expereince if i try again with a clearer mind?

im just wondering what other peoples experiences have been? does everyone feel like its a bit strange initially but then it all falls into place? ive been at uni a couple of times before so i guess i couldnt help but compare the experiences and think 'how the hell can this possibly work so that i actually get a decent education out of this?' it had seemd like a perfect way to convert from EEN to RN, but in reality i think it felt a bit wishy-washy compared to doing an internal course.

id really love for it to work out, bcos it will make converting from EEN to RN a much more convenient and flexible process- but im wondering whether maybe it just wont work for me.

thoughts and opinions of current students would be great.
thanks

Hey Jules

Learnline is a complete mess to be honest and even us internal students struggle with it. As an external student I cannot recommend getting involved in the online forums for each subject enough. They have saved me countless times when I've not understood whats going on.

Just get into the habit of checking it daily, you'll soon get used to it.

Not that I know.

The health department appears to be more than a little out of touch most of the time.
