I applied back in August to study my BA Nursing via Unisa and Charles Darwin..both distance ed (best thing for my lifestyle right now).

Anyhoo i find out on the 15th of Jan if i have received a place at either or both or neither. I really dont know which one i will choose if i get in to both...i havent felt that confident about it yet.

The application process was not very involved so there were no clues for me there haha.

I have been very patient waiting this long but these last few weeks are killing me!!

Hi (again)

I also applied for the BA Nursing (external) at UniSA via OUA and received an offer in the mail on Dec 2nd. As you know, I have decided to accept a local Div 2 offer as a starter, but it seems there are still quite alot of people waiting for offers too. I assume you applied direct to UniSA via SATAC? So is Jan 15th the only date offers will be made? What about 2nd/3rd round offers? Either way, I hope you get one, however...............

have you heard the latest fiasco about all the UniSA nursing students getting emails/letters saying that it is likely they will all have to do their placements in SA?? There are many, many unhappy customers out there! Imagine doing 2 yrs of your degree and then not being able to do your final year because there is no way you could spend 16 weeks in SA on placement, and not necessarily in Adelaide either, anywhere in SA!! I don't blame everyone for being irate.

I'm glad I'm declining the offer. Hope you still get yours though, if it's what you want.

Hey,

Yeah I applied through satac and the first offers dont come out til the 15th of Jan so thats when I will know. There is no earlier date.

I havent heard about the unisa probs with placements. I guess thats one thing you have to be prepared for applying at an interstate uni. Im prepared to go over a couple of times a year and if I have to for placement I guess I will. Hopefully it wont come to that though as I work for a very big private hospital who have already offered to support me during my studies and have offerend me placements throughout the hospital.

Time will tell and I firmly believe in whatever is meant to be will be, and if im meant to get in then I will..and if not I will reapply next year.

The main thing for me is that I already have a career getting off the ground and I have a qualification that means alot to me and I will probably always have a job as long as I want one..nursing is just like that. So whatever will be will be hey!!

Hi Keeshy,

Just wanted to let you know that the other day we got an email from UniSA stating that they expect most of us will probably have to undertake some of our placement in SA. The thing about this is it's not just a couple of weeks, but a couple of months. I know they are still telling new students that "some" of you "may" have to undertake placement in SA, which I find quite misleading when they are telling those of us about to go on our 8 week placements that they expect the majority will have to. This is particularly hard on those who have kids etc (which is a lot of the externals) and i know there are at least a few people who are considering dropping out over it.Just want to warn you so you can go in prepared.

Good Luck. I hope you get a place, and then local placements!

Steph
