Hello!  I've just finished up my Cert 3 and have been offered a casual position with the nursing home I did my placement at.  In a couple of weeks I'l be starting and I'm quite nervous at being 'officially' part of the team. The work is heavy, busy and the residents are high care.  My problem is that I really want to be as competent as possible as quickly as possible.  Do you think it would be acceptable to take a notebook or something where I can jot notes/reminders down as I do my first shifts?   I asked for a duties list but not sure if one will materialise before I start. I will have orientation 'officially' but I know it will be information overload at first.  So - any advice/tips would be greatly appreciated.  What do you wish you'd known when you started in the aged care sector? I look forward to being an active member of the NurseCentral forums :-)
